Our Office Policies

Our office is conveniently located on 19 East Main Street, Suite 1, where we space share with Mendham Medical Practice. Our friendly and efficient Office Staff will assist you to arrange an appointment that is most convenient. To schedule an appointment please call us at 973-543-4440.

Billing

All payments, including Medicare, are requested at the time of service.    

Our practice accepts cash and personal checks as well as the following credit cards:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • American Express
  • Discover

As of May 1, 2023, a surcharge will be applied to credit card transactions.

Appointments & Cancellations

If you are unable to keep an appointment, we ask that you kindly provide us with at least 48 hours notice. This courtesy, on your part, will make it possible to give your appointment to another patient.

Dr. Prefer is accepting new patients for menopausal hormonal consultation and therapy ONLY.

We do not participate in any commercial health plans. We can provide you with the necessary diagnosis codes for you to submit.

Emergencies

Emergency after-hours coverage is provided by Dr. Prefer or a covering physician. Dr. Prefer or the On-Call doctor can be reached by dialing the main number: 973-543-4440.

Patient Forms

The office provides our patients with office forms for convenience. We recommend you print, fill out these forms, and bring them with you  to your appointment to save time.

Accepted Insurance Plans

Our practice does not accept insurance plans. Our office staff will assist you with the necessary paperwork so you can submit your claims to your insurance company.

As of 9/1/24, I will be opting out of Medicare.

What does this mean for you?
  • I will no longer be able to file claims to Medicare.
  • When I see you in the office, you’ll need to sign a document stating that you were informed that I can no longer submit claims for you.
  • I’ll provide you with a receipt for Tax purposes.
  • Please be aware that claims cannot be submitted to Medicare or your secondary carrier.

Many have asked if I’m retiring, I am not, these are changing times.
